Martial Arts in the 2016 Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

October 6th, 2009

Olympics 2016 in Rio De Janiero, Brazil

The announcements for the 2016 Olympics to be held in Rio De Janiero prevailed over Chicago, IL attempt for the olympic bid.

Regardless of where the Olympics will be held, many people will compete on that set date.

Regardless of which sport, many people of all ages, and from different countries will be watching their favorite event they have grown up with, or support their friends, families, and teams for that country and event in that sport.

In the Olympics, the only fighting type of sports, that are entered for all athletes to compete in, are usually Boxing, Wrestling, Judo and Tae Kwon Do, and why not Jiu-Jitsu this time. Each of these sports has their own specific training style, training shoes, and training equipment.

Not to include MMA, since much part of the world, still views, and considers it to be a violent and unsafe sport, other than only including gloves for fighting. If MMA was to ever be a place in the Olympics, the rules would have to be changed, and more protective gear, would have to be used, if the matches are to be similar what is shown in UFC.

Boxing, being a sport that has been part of an American sport for longer period of time, whether the audience will be watching it at the Olympics or at home from their television set, it will probably be the most watched off all of the fighting sport events. Boxers, as the other sports, coming from several of countries, and athletes, who have a much broader influence across the world, will be one off the first exciting events to watch.

2008 Olympics Boxing

A sport, from which seems to be practiced and becomes a bit applicable in any society, since most will think of using their hands, when it comes to a street fight. Boxing, being a sport to always be competed in Boxing Gloves, which will also involve a sparring cup, and head gear, and the mouth piece.

Wrestling, this will mostly appeal to high school and college students, or athletes, since it’s primarily the first and usual fighting sport that is allowed by school districts and several of universities across the world. Though, it will appeal to some MMA fanatics, its only protection for that sport, are the ear guard, and perhaps some elbow and or knee pads, and of course at least the mouth piece.

2008 Olympics Wrestling Competitions

Since wrestling is about trying to pin the opponent to the ground, MMA fanatics will have to get used not seeing any mixed fighting, that is seen in UFC. Since the Olympics is basically about safety for the competitors, wrestling is about competition and not to make the other fighter bleed from hard MMA knockouts.

Judo, a form and an art which it comes from Japan, and several of other countries practice the style, it will be a less focused sport, if not at least a much recognized than its counter part to Tae Kwon Do fighting. Though it is to be considered and is a ground fighting style, which most maybe get confused to MMA, or those who know little to nothing about the Martial-Arts, may find it fascinating, to even see women compete in these matches.

2008 Olympics Judo Competitions

Which will and could appeal to women around the world, that will influence women about self defense, when the fight is taken to the ground by an attacker. Many women these days wish to learn how to defend themselves, especially, if they are ever to be encountered in a sexual assault or rape situation, which Judo is designed to take out opponents on the ground.

Tae Kwon Do, a style that has been in the Olympics for a short time, has been a crave for a chance to be in the Olympics by many competitors who train in World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Which is an organization, that represents Tae Kwon Do, in a way that it influences many Martial-Artist, due to the fascination of the kicks, and fast attacks for the point.

2008 Olympics Tae Kwon Do Competitions

Tae Kwon Do, has come from a long road, for it to become an Olympic sport, which there is a high required rule to wear full protection from the head to the feet. Which most of the competition is concentrated on its kicking and less punching, has dominated among the martial arts community, when it is about seeing an exciting sport that comes close to be in constant moving such as an aerobic workout. Men and women compete in this sport, and athletes, from all over the world, where ever a Tae Kwon Do school is found, many wish to use their TKD skills to be the next Olympian champion.

2016 Olympic games, will be a surprising moment for the people of Brazil. For many of those who have traveled to the country either for vacation, work related experience, or through family relations, to have the Olympics in South America will be another experience to their diary. It will be an exciting moment even to the Brazilians to show and demonstrate the beauty and diversity of their culture. Especially for those to travel and compete in the Olympics, and for foreigners to travel to see the Olympics, and for those who will support their athletes and their countries in the 2016 games.
